I've been training with Joel for a couple of months now and since I have started with him, I've noticed such an improvement, especially in my Mixed Doubles. Joel's personality makes the training enjoyable and he has the ability to strengthen the players confidence. Joel is a great coach and has taught me so much already.
AMY GEORGE - U17 ENGLAND SQUAD MEMBER Joel's achievements as a player contribute to his qualities as a coach who is able to spar and coach those he is training, this helps immensely as he is able to understand how far a player can be pushed physically and mentally. It also allows him to give advice to players about all the aspects of badminton including; what players should be doing off-court and which tournaments they should be entering. It is also very easy to communicate with Joel as a coach and as a friend which I find very useful as a player because he will give his honest opinion of how I am playing/training and this directness means Joel is always clear as to what he is trying to say.

Joel has been inspirational in helping me with my badminton. He works me hard but that really helps in the matches. He has been a great technical coach because of his fantastic feeding and knowledge of the sport. I play Joel in matches and I always lose despite him playing with his left hand
THOMAS ALLEN - U15 KENT COUNTY PLAYER I have known Joel for 10 years as an excellent badminton
player who inspires everyone I know who likes and plays the game of
badminton. I can confirm that Joel is a man of great integrity, is
extremely dedicated to his work and he is dedicated to performing as
a top coach at the highest level in badminton coaching.
Joel has a great sense of humour which makes training fun, though very strict with no time wasting; whilst expecting nothing less than 100% out of his players. Joel has an amazing understanding of the game from simple things like how to hold the racket to play certain strokes easily. MOSES - KENT (COUNTY VETERAN PLAYER) |

I have known Joel Gayle for over 15 years, and during
that period of time he has progressed from a promising young player with
potential, to a England National under 19 Champion. As an advanced player, I recently decided to have
some coaching sessions from Joel to improve my overall game. The
sessions I have are very productive for the following reasons:
• Each drill was clearly explained and demonstrated • Each drill was challenging yet enjoyable • Joel was more than happy to answer questions about the session, and provide advice. I have already noticed an improvement in my game, and I am playing with a lot more confidence and self belief. I would highly recommend Joel to anyone who wants to improve their badminton skills, no matter what level they are currently playing at. RICHARD REID - MIDDLESEX (COUNTY VETERAN PLAYER) |
As Essex’s top player Joel’s wealth of playing experience brings lots of help to his already established coaching credentials. As he is a top player he already knows how far players should be pushed and can be pushed to make it to a higher level. His playing ability also helps him massively whilst doing drills as he can feed it perfectly to any position on the court. He can also give lots of help to players on things like nutrition and strength and conditioning, as well as helping out with a tournament plan. As Joel is a friendly person it is easy to talk to him about anything and although being friendly, he will also give his opinion on how I am playing even if I’m playing terrible and this is very useful as a player.

Joel's training has
always been very intense for me, and
because of this I expect a lot of myself. It matches with what Joel expects of me as
his student; continually raising the level and intensity of each session without compromising quality. His clever play has earned him many well-known titles across
the
country and even outside the country which is why I aspire to train
under him. He is able to advise knowledgeably on the
execution of badminton, whether it is how certain shots should be
played or my
tactical awareness on court. This is solely because Joel is a clever
tactician
himself that treats badminton like it’s a game of chess, a dangerous
trait
which I would like to try to emulate in the near future. Joel has a
great
sense of humour and is easy to talk to, which makes training with him
more
enjoyable despite the intensity that I have to work at. Having someone
that plays at the highest level like Joel is really a game
changer into your own skills, he has definitely given me another
dimension to my game.

I have had coaching with Joel intermittently for a couple of years now. Joel has a keen eye so is able to see where players need improvement on techniques such as strokes and footwork. I found Joel very professional, demonstrating as well as explaining the strokes, footwork etc. He is dedicated to his sport thus requiring perfection and, in turn, because Joel is such a competent and graceful player, you want the same high standards for yourself with the need to put in some hard work away from coaching sessions.
Joel is quite flexible and willing to travel to different location and tries to fit in with your schedule as far as possible. LOIS REID - ESSEX (CLUB PLAYER) |

Joel is an excellent coach with great analytical skills and a patient manner. Having been out of the game for 8 years with back problems, I started training with Joel to get back into playing badminton. He devised a personalised training regime, which worked around my physical limitations, and redesigned many of my strokes, posture and footwork to both improve my game and protect my back from further injury. Joel has the ability to push hard and be demanding whilst always making the sessions fun.

I have known Joel and have been training with him for almost a year now. Its been a pleasure getting to know him as a person and as a professional. What makes the lessons really great for me is the atmosphere he creates each time we step onto court. He is really friendly and easy going. Having himself established as an international player, the wealth of experience and knowledge he carries is paramount to the lessons he designs for his students. When I look back and think how far I have come in terms of the overall development of my game, I can only thank Joel for putting in his heart and soul and helping me out
