ABOUT JOEL GAYLE
Joel’s long involvement with badminton started when he was a youngster. He represented the UK at the highest levels, between the ages of 14 and 21, and was National Singles champion at the age of 18. In the same year, he was a Mixed Doubles finalist in national competition. At the age of 18, Joel was ranked number 7 in the UK. Joel currently plays competitively for a European club called Team Argovia in Switzerland and is also a team member of the Surrey Smashers in the inaugural National Badminton League, which is broadcasted on Sky Sports. He is a former World Corporate Games Singles and Doubles champion.
Joel has 12 years coaching experience, teaching players of all levels from beginner to international. His u17 junior players won a National title in boys’ doubles, whilst scoring a runner-up and semifinal result in mixed doubles (2012). More recently he has coached U19 and U15 individuals to National titles this year (2015). Joel himself held a four year unbeaten record (2008-2012) in mixed doubles and also completed 2013 with a 100% unbeaten record in domestic tournaments in Mixed and Men's Doubles. |
He now coaches for Arsenal football team and the badminton teams at Queen Mary’s University (London). Joel is First Aid trained, and certified in safeguarding children in sports. He’s also certified for equity in sport and holds a full CRB check/clearance.
Joel’s extensive knowledge of the game, both as a player and a coach, is replicated in the coaches who work under him at the Joel Gayle School of Badminton. This “extremely intuitive and attentive coach” (in the words of his peers) has put together a unique badminton training and development method, which works on every level and for every client.
